Sauna

Sauna is an ancient therapy used for thousands of years with a multitude of health benefits. A sauna is a small room or portable unit in which heat is used to raise the body’s temperature, creating many beneficial reactions. A sauna is considered a “hermetic stressor”: a mild stress is put on the body that in turn, provokes cellular processes, and encourages repair and protection from future stressors. Mandarin Wellness Center uses a portable tent infrared sauna. This is a one-person collapsible tent that functions with infrared heat. The user zips themselves into the sauna with their head protruding. Like regular infrared saunas, portable infrared saunas are lined with carbon fiber infrared heating panels.  Infrared saunas emit infrared light, which penetrates the skin and heats the body.

The many benefits of sauna can include:

  • Improved cardiovascular health and lower risk of heart disease.

  • Lower risk of dementia/Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Improvement of pain in sufferers of arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, joint pain, and other conditions that cause chronic pain.

  • Increased heart rate, widening of blood vessels, increased circulation.

  • Decreased stress, increased relaxation and well-being.

  • Aides in removal of heavy metals and other toxins.

  • Improvement of quality of life for people suffering from respiratory issues, skin diseases, headache or migraine, hormone imbalance, autoimmune disorders, and chronic fatigue.

To use a portable sauna safely, follow these guidelines:

  • Drink plenty of water before and after each session to stay hydrated.

  • Limit each session to 10-20 minutes and monitor your body's response to the heat.

  • Avoid using the sauna if you have a fever or are feeling ill.

  • Do not exceed the recommended temperature for your sauna.

  • Allow your body to cool down after each session before engaging in any other physical activity.

Ask your doctor before using a sauna if any of the following applies to you:

  • Recent stroke or heart attack

  • Heart disease that causes chest pain (angina pectoris), or poorly controlled heart failure

  • Severe aortic stenosis (narrowing of a major heart valve)

  • Orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure upon standing)

Sauna therapy is done in sessions, which cost $50.00 for each session. Package deals are also available.
